Virtus Pro vs Astralis | BO3 | 19.02.2017 | 21:00 CEST

Virtus.Pro took down mousesports 2-0 to reach the semi-finals against Astralis. Mousesports was never a real danger to VP even though Mirage went 16-14 which was only because NiKo had another impressive display showing the world how good he is individually which kept them in the game much longer than they would have been otherwise. Astralis went up against NiP in the quarter-finals and destroyed them 2-0 as well. There was never doubt in anyone’s mind who would be going through in this match but it was how much of a fight could NiP put up and the answer is not much against an Astralis who is in top form at the moment. These two teams played at the E-League Major in the Grand Finals which Astralis came back in an amazing fashion on Train where they were down 7-13 at one point. Both teams want this extremely badly and since they share a similar map pool it will make for an exciting game.

Form & Matchup

Overall Astralis has shown a level of consistency over the last 2 months that rivals the old fnatic lineup in their prime. Astralis have lost 7 out of their last 22 maps played on LAN opposed to Virtus.Pro who have lost 6 out of their last 22 maps played on LAN (disregarding WESG which wasn’t a tier 1 international LAN). Both teams are almost identical here but I will give the edge to Astralis simply because I have seen less mistakes from them and better adjustments from the matches I have watched.

Matchup wise it’s almost identical as well. Astralis, much like SK are able to slow it down or speed it up depending on what gla1ve wants to do and that was shown beautifully on the final map of the Major where they made the comeback against VP. Virtus.Pro has good team play from having the same roster for over 2 ½ years which allows them to play off each other much better than most other teams. Overall I will say it is even between these two teams who both excel in different aspects.
