Visiting Phi Phi was a mistake

I just don't understand why people still visit Maya Bay even knowing that it got so destroyed by tourism they had to close it for years. It has always been off limits to me and I never recommend anyone go there (or Phi Phi really).

I prefer to skip any of these incredibly scenic locations, especially if they are smaller in scale. They look pretty and serene on a photo, so everyone goes there to take a photo, and thus they are no longer pretty and serene. The Phi Phi experience you probably actually want is somewhere people don't bother to visit because they don't have anyone selling them a trip there.

Why people go to those places vs. somewhere like Koh Yao Noi I will never understand.
