The Voices, PC, and buck passing

You seem pretty mad about this, and I'm not exactly sure why. o.O;

I only actually got mad when someone accused me of "lore-forcing". I hate that term and it needs to die. The only "lore-forcing" is lore suppression, which is usually done by labeling somebody else's lore as "forced lore." Which is why the phrase itself needs to die and be replaced with "lore suppression."

As for why the Voices aren't held responsible for it, I think that's partially because that would imply we wanted it to happen.

Some of the Voices DO want it to happen. That's what I've pointed out.

And not ALL of the Voices do, mind you. The different Voice factions struggling for control over the Host itself is an inner struggle surely worthy of lore exploration, don't you think? (Although since these "Voices" are real people, I do understand how people could have problems with focusing too much on that; it could unintentionally turn into ugly insults.)

That's why it's usually something else behind all this, something that WE can ally against because there's really no allying against ourselves as it just causes bitterness in the community when we do.

There usually is an end goal in the games, something the Voices are striving towards. But they need the help of a Host to get to it. And it can't be presumed that the Host is an unwilling vessel -- Camilla A. Slash summoned the Voices personally, and Jimmy C. Gimmick was a huge fanboy of the Voices before he became a Host and realized that it wasn't what it's cracked up to be.

And there appear to be benefits to Voice possession: the Host has no need to sleep, has increased resistance to damage (i.e. falling off of ledges), and can survive pretty much any kind of physical beating (even though we put them through a lot of it).

Do you then wish to see a protag condemn the whole lot of us?

I think A.J. did that with "No Gods, No Kings, Just 'Mon," and it was one of the most memorable urns of all. Helix was the ruler of the Voices that were hurting himself and his team, so he went after Helix. That's my interpretation, anyway.

I wouldn't mind either, but I'm curious what exactly it is you're wanting to get out of such a request.

What I was thinking of was more deeply exploring the relationships between not just the Host and the Voices, but the helpful Voices versus the malevolent Voices.
