A Volus is an invaluable teammate, and using the Shield Boost for allies should give you points.

An interesting subject; haven't seen it broached before. I see your point. Done right, Volii are fun to play, and I don't see them often enough. I totally agree that they can make a significant addition to most teams. Some people never play them, and resent seeing them in the lobby, because they feel "support kits" are a waste of space. "If you're not putting out DPS, you're useless". That's one way of putting it, and might be true if teamwork was always great, nobody ever died, shieldgate was unbreakable, everyone moved smoothly around the map and never got cornered, not to mention clusterfucks of bosses + seeker swarms + the BEES! on Glacier Hazard, and so on. Shit happens, and especially when four guys are trying to complete a game. Usually without talking. Li'l Volus can make things all better, and often does. The really cool part is, one doesn't really have to choose between helping the team, and killing stuff. With Stasis and a decent pistol, taking out mooks and Phantoms is pretty easy. Protecting the team from Phantoms, is a very important responsibility for Stasis users anyway. Once frozen, rest of team can take potshots too. If there are Warp rounds in play, so much the better. Stasis + Biotic orb makes a decent explosion to finish. On the other hand, Volii are easily the tankies little mofos, and it's possible to play them very aggressively indeed. Volus Engineer's two mines can debuff something fierce, allowing for easy takedown of bosses and mooks alike. To finish, Volii are good on Gold, for a decent player. Just remember that shield boost can sometimes lock up other players' guns and powers, but they can fix it with a heavy melee (or dying ... oops).
