you vs the guy she tells you not to worry about.

Looking back I maybe should have lunged for the Planar 6 as lately I’ve been getting the itch to upgrade my planar 3.

Ended up getting a killer deal on a brand new groovetracer reference subplatter. It was between this and an acrylic platter. The extra money I saved went towards a Rega white belt which will be here next week.

I chose to listen to the A side of this amazing repress. By her majesty’s Request - pizzicato five. I’m not that knowledgeable in audiophile jargon or reviews so I’ll try to explain my experience so far the best I can.

Initial thoughts were to pick a Japanese pressing for comparison as in my experience you can’t get much quieter. Well I was wrong.

I don’t know if it was my brain wanting to hear a difference but I’m having a hard time pinpointing what it has improved.

The record has come alive. I swear the imaging has opened up and everything is just a little less fuzzy. It’s almost like putting on a pair of glasses, everything is sharp.

Between songs it went from quiet to not even knowing the record is spinning. It was most noticeable at the run-out where normally I can hear a bit of noise but it sounded like the tone arm was up and the turntable was off.

I’m looking forward to spinning a few more records. Extremely happy with this upgrade.
