I waited like 4 hours to see an ADD "specialist" first thing he told me was he doesn't believe in it.

Ugh. This reminds me of when I saw a doctor for a severely infected wisdom tooth. I was in agony and could barely talk and was unable to eat. After asking me what medications I take and mentioning my ADHD medication, she turned very nasty. She told me that my infection could spread to my brain and I must go to a dentist at once or it could be deadly, though she noncomitally said my insurance won't cover it. She then said "why do you need ADHD medications, you seem fine talking to me"? I calmly responded that I am on my medication now (though I don't know what she would expect someone with ADHD with a severe infection to act like, and how it would prove or disprove an ADHD diagnosis.) She had no answer. Just extreme prejudice against treatment. It was my first experience that a treatment that had such a positive effect on me could be attacked by ignorant angry "professionals." Luckily I had an amazing psychiatrist, so he laughed her off and didn't let her get in my head.
