Waiters, waitresses, and delivery drivers of reddit, for better, or for worst, what has been your most memorable tip, or customer?

Locked my keys in the car. Customer hadn’t tipped. It made using their phone to call the store pretty awkward for them.

Another time, I left my delivery, hit a deer and lost the credit card receipt somewhere in the midst of freaking out about the deer that I just sent flying across the road and cursing about the inevitable damage to the car.

Without a receipt, we wouldn’t authorize a tip when the final credit card charge was put through at the end of the night. It was my first and last delivery that night and I made like 2 bucks in mileage and 3 in wages.

The car ended up with two broken headlight assemblies, a dented hood and shattered fender. In all, I only fixed the headlights and it was like 140 bucks.
