You wake up in your world, what’s the first thing you do?

Depends on the era.

Prehistory? Fashion some shelter and tools, try to tame a wildmagic creature, probably die quickly from eating the wrong berries.

Era of Ascent? Use my knowledge of the world and inner workings of magic to become a cleric in a human village.

Era of Balance? As above. If I'm near the end of the era, I'd be torn between stopping the catalyst that ends the era and seeking shelter away from it all and riding it out.

Era of the Split Trinity? Seek out and stake claim over one of the remaining pools of magic. Secure it and become a scholar in the capital city... unless it's near the end of the era, then avoid it altogether until things settle.

Era of Reformation? Become a scholar in the capital city, encourage expeditions beyond the Glass.

Beyond that, I'd probably set up a homestead somewhere near a spring of magic and become a private tutor to some wealthy magistrate... the later it gets, the harder it would be for some random unknown person to just appear and set up a life without being treated as homeless.
