ღ Wallflower Wednesday ღ - Community Question and the Subject of Vocal Manipulation

The point is, some of us don't see it as an issue worthy of a new rule. Nor do we see it as a problem that needs solving. What exactly is the issue being fixed here?

Someone might think I'm a girl if I change the pitch of my voice? Or that I'm a chipmonk? Why should that be my problem?

None of us who post here are 100% honest about who we are. I don't share my personal information. I don't share whether I'm married or single, what my background is, where I live, etc. Why should I now have to be 100% honest about my voice?

And what's next?

I do voices. Some of my voices sound nothing like me. Do I now have to post "I did a silly voice" every time I do a humor audio with one?

This subreddit deals with fantasy heavily. I'd argue that it's founded on fantasy, either that of the performer, or those of the listener. Very little of what is posted here is 100% real.

I have played rapists, stripper magicians, cuckolding husbands, mermen, vampires, aliens and a whole hosts of characters. Should I now have to include a note in my posts that says, "I AM NOT A RAPIST" just because someone out there might possible not realize I'm pretending?

What good does that do? Who does it help? Who is harmed if I don't? And why should it be my responsibility to hand hold people through my audios as if they can't make their own adult decisions about the content they listen to?

I just don't see any really good reason for the rule. It makes people do extra work for very little positive return.

If there are people who have been fooled by voice changing, hurt, etc., the issue is less about the voice changing and more about the need for people to be educated about being smart and careful while interacting on the internet.

All this hand wringing over "courtesy" ignores the point I made earlier. People up to no good will ignore this rule anyway. And all we end up is everyone having to do extra work while taking away some of the mystery and fun of an audio because it now has to be packed with a bunch of legal disclaimers.
