ღ Wallflower Wednesday ღ - Community Question and the Subject of Vocal Manipulation

like it's a massive intrusion on creative freedom or a huge burden on content creators - and I'm not mischaracterizing the responses of those people

It's not either of those things. It's not.

But over the past several months there have been several rules changes, all in efforts to "protect" listeners and make it easier for them to find exactly what they want and to avoid (heaven forbid!) them ever having to hear something that isn't exactly what they want. It gets frustrating as a content creator to basically be told "out of the 56K people using this sub, this handful of people has a problem so they get a new rule just so that they don't feel slightly uncomfortable because they can't realize the difference between fantasy and reality" or "this group of people needs to have anything that is under 18 carefully tagged even though it states on the sidebar that audios can represent people 13+" or "we need to stop having this popular podcast-y type audio posted because it's not sexual enough even though many community members enjoy it." etc etc etc

You know why it's really bothering me? Because it makes it seem like performers don't take pride in tagging, making recordings accessible to their audiences. I do tag. I do consider the thoughts and feelings and reactions of my fans/listeners.

I really think this sub should be about making performers/content creators feel comfortable, not listeners. This is not a paid service site. All the emphasis put on listeners/fans/people commenting does a real disservice to people who actually make audio.

and ps. There hasn't been a single alternative suggested because most of us don't believe it's an issue. At least not one worth making a global rule change to address a few disgruntled people who are upset because someone "tricked" them into thinking the person was something other than their perfect fantasy doll.
