ღ Wallflower Wednesday ღ - What makes a request 'good' for a recorder?

I have heard stories of creepy encounters before and my thoughts are with the people who record who unfortunately deal with this. As homersoc said, it feels horrible and I hope you know we're on your side. All I feel I can do is try to add to the positive side of the equation and to agree with any rebuff of that sort of behavior that I can.

Even if most of the culprits amenable to reason are so amenable that they just won't do it in the first place, I think some are just confused and misguided about how some words will come out. Penn Jillette's old advice about "would it sound strange if a character in a movie did/said this?" seems to check out. (That he then went on to give that same advice in a way that by itself was creepy in that exact way maybe illustrates some sort of point...)

Anyway, for the possible benefit of those confused and hopefully spelling out the obvious, if you're contacting someone who records (or someone else, for that matter), be kind and sweet and give them the respect they deserve. Even if you're being playful and teasing or even playing on something like domination, there are ways of doing that and still signaling "PS: I'm just in character, I like your stuff". From what I've heard of this subject, the care taken to really get across the message that "you come in peace" (!) and you're not someone they possibly need to worry about will be appreciated. And of course: if I ever creeped anyone out myself, I do apologize for that.

Unrelated to this, I'd just like to take a rare moment of explicit, blatant self-promotion, since I just recently noticed you could, and mention the subreddit where I collect my scripts - /r/cuddle_with_me . If you like them or me, have a look. And if you don't, now you know where to absolutely not go.
