I think eldritch monstrosities are a bit boring these days because they are not really incomprehensible and maddening. People just describe / draw something with large fleshy bits and maybe plop some eyes on them and call it a day. While that sort of stuff may have worked in the 19th century it does not really have an effect on readers today. I think an interesting eldritch monstrosity really has to operate in a way that makes it alien and unpredictable in both biology (if applicable) and temperament. If you apply the SCP screws to it, it would lose its impact. I actually prefer the spacetime-manipulating kind of eldritch monsters even if they are less visceral and have less elements of body horror.
