Wants to lose weight but doesn't want to count calories because it's triggering.

I've had binge eating disorder, related to other psychological issues. I still fall into that trap now and then. I don't count calories. When i realised that i finally had the mental space to tackle the body, i also realised i had to do it in a sane and sustainable way. It means no diet, but a lifestyle change. So instead of calories, i've focused on habits.

Soda is my problem, i drink my calories. I still drink soda, but make sure i have a giant jug of water near, so water is the drink of choice most of the time. Portions are smaller, nothing is off the menu. I like snacks, but replaced some with fruit. Turns out, if i hide snack stuff from myself, i eat less of it, so the snacks that are replaced have are now fruits. The cookiejar is being replaced a lot less often. I've felt a bit bingy the past weeks, but apparently these strategies work, making me binge less than i feel. Fupa still has shrunk a bit, despite me thinking i overdid things at some days. Overall, the lesser days compensated for that. Weightloss has been slow, but relatively constant.

One does not need to count calories to lose weight. You can just work on what works better for you to cause you to eat less calories. A simple rules of 'don't be a glutton' and 'eat less crap'. Counting calories is a good way for most people to keep track and stay on track, it holds one responsible and is clear visible data. And i do believe that at some point i'll have to learn to invest in that. For now, i'm a fatty who still has a long way to go with changing bad habits and keep those in check and that works.

Still a bad decision to put this stuff on FB and that advice about not walking backwards in water makes me very confused. WTH kind of exercise is that? If you spent years gaining a giant butt, floating on your back is not going to make you lose that. Get out of the pool and fix whatever you've been puttin in the fridge!
