Is the War Bride Effect Real? I.e. women are programmed to adapt for their conquerors?

Do you see any evidence? Claiming that women genetically evolved to be conquered is a pretty enormous reach.

A lot of women who didn't exist under the threat of being raped by a warlord still had to marry men they didn't want to be with for financial stability as there weren't other options. You could argue that the generations on generations of coercive rape that women have suffered has changed many of us genetically. But the implication of this TRP tidbit seems to imply that women are submissive or ~beta~ on a genetic level as a result. The word programmed is also indicative of that bias. The real impact of this kind of genetic trauma isn't a sure fire thing. Some women may learn to compartmentalize, some to be quick to anger or sadness, some go numb. People don't just get "programmed "one way en masse.

Also, stockholm syndrome is a massively misunderstood and misused expression that a lot of psychologists don't really fly with today. It describes an effect of PTSD, trauma bonding. In famous longterm kidnapping cases, many young women were sexually, physically and emotionally abused until the demands of their captors became their priority. It became harder for them to escape, and when they finally found the bravery to do so, the media prefers the term stockholm syndrome as a way to downplay their trauma and make it seem like they were weak little girls who fell in love with their abusers. This is something I learned after hearing those survivors express frustration at constantly being asked why they didn't escape sooner or if they had stockholm syndrome. Victim blaming is gross.
