[Ward] MLB Player's Association has named Mike Trout as a finalist for Player's Choice Player of the Year and Marvin Miller Award which is based on leadership qualities on field and in community

Not to be a dick, but I'm not going to hold my breath on that.

How do you handle the best player in baseball? You can't just give him the award every year. It wouldn't (seam to be) fair to all the other players.

And when he gets hurt late in the season and misses a significant amount of games for a sub-500 team, it's not that difficult to see who the more valuable player is.

Would I rather have Mike Trout on my team over Alex Bregman? Hell, yea! But I find it difficult to vote a player MVP after he missed the last month of the season and his team didn't even come close to making the playoffs.

Maybe MVP Voting should be done after the World Series.
