as someone this sub would consider a "gun nut" i will freely admit that less guns would lower shootings, the problem is that with the amount of guns already owned in the US gun control wont actually solve the problem. its important to point that the US is just simply more violent than those countries, the US has substantially more stabbings and assaults per capita than every other western country. you ask for a evidence based solution and while i dont have one if you look at what makes the US different form europe or Australia the answer is poverty and affordable access to healthcare. i honestly think if those to things are seriously addressed all crime in general would go down.
