I thought I'd share an interaction I had with a friend of a friend on facebook after my posting a MoA post on the racial aspects of the coup in Venezuela.
I kept it to his comments as I think they are quite instructive. He retreated like a baby in the end.
JULIAN: I will be very direct: There is a lot of oversimplifications and it is clear that you do not know and understand the context.
This is not about Left vs. Right, or Trump and the US getting involved in Latin American affairs, as usual, it is way more complex than that but in a nutshell is about a kleptocratic regime that has a whole country kidnapped.
I kindly invite you to inform yourself better from as many different sources as possible and if you have the chance to talk to a Venezuelan, so you can get a picture of what this all means in a personal level to all of us who left the country and to the ones who stayed.
I invite you to start by checking this article, every time you post something in the style of this post you are playing along for Maduros regime https://www.washingtonpost.com/.../stop-parroting.../... (cites article by Francisco Soto who believes having more democracy means having less participation in election, um, an elitist)
Feel free to contact me if you would like to talk more about the topic.
JULIAN: It is not coup, if you knew the Venezuelan constitution you wouldn't say that... Guaidó is the legitimate interim president.
And the 3-4 millions Venezuelan leaving the country because of hunger and desperation is also not fake new.
Please, don't make it this about an issue that it is not - Israel plays no role or so every in this matter.
If you could speak Spanish (I speak spanish and grew up in Bolivia and actually had my 15th birthday there) in few clicks you'll find good sources of explaining why what you said is simply not true.
You don't seem to be interested in discussing or getting to know more about the topic, if you change your mind I'm open to talk. (I invited him to discuss in SPANISH the constitution of Venezuela and the Article of the Constitution he claims gives Guaido legitmacy) I insist: if you would like to know more ask a Venezuelan. (my posting videos of Abbey Martin interviewing Venezuelans on the street in SPANISH)

Julián You both are mixing so many things that it is hard to follow and are only exposing your ignorance about Venezuela.
I am still surprised the level of arrogance to talk about something without having the less of an idea, knowing the context or even speaking the language. Quoting from obscure websites or talking about conspiration theories doesn't help much.
So you try to explain my country to me? ok.
What we want is FREE ELECTIONS asap, no one wants an invasion.
Under these conditions it doesn't make much sense to talk, anyhow if you are open have an adults discussion about it, feel free to contact me. Cheers.
That's all he wrote, I welcome anyone to join the conversation.
