Maybe. I've been to churches where they speak in tongues like prophets in the old days and I was like "uh... What the fuck did we just get ourselves into?" As people were screaming and having half seizures babbling random speeches you couldn't really make out. I'm not religious anymore but I was back then and I remember thinking "yeah... These guys definitely getting possessed by the devil." These were 12-18 year olds being encouraged by a 30 year old youth pastor to speak in tongues and pray random gibberish; encouraging people to "speak from the heart." These people genuinely thought they had some special relation with god like Noah or Abraham and thus wer3 able to speak in tongues.

You re right these people believe that delusion. This is minor in comparison but if you have evangelical parents you see this kind of shit manifest and they justify their actions by saying "well I'm not a mafia I'm a hard working Christian so I'm a good person." Then she actively steals pepper grown from neighbors garden and asked me how to embezzled funds from her business. I was like yeah mom... no. That's how Mafioso get caught and arrested.
