Waterdeep: Economic Horror

Treasures from chapter 1:

Volo: 10gp peer player (I'll count as 40gp)

Zhentarim Hideout: 4*75=(300)gp Paintings / 15*50=(750)gp silver bars / 1 paper bird; Total 1050gp

Xanathar Guild Hideout: 6cp / 1spellbook / 2 potions of healing / 16gp, 82sp, 250cp

Expenses:

  1. Two dinners at the Yawning Portal (one when everything starts and a second when they meet volo again) (I counted as 2 days of comfortable life style in my total)
  2. 25gp taxes for the manor

Result:

1 New manor/tavern; 1 New frenemy specter; 3 New friends (Volo; Renaer; Floon); 1 paper bird; 1 Spell-book; 2 healing potions;

1025gp / 82 sp / 256 cp (I toke 16gp, 4 peer player should pay 2 days of expenses living comfortably)

The manor comes almost paid up if the players want to restore it. There isn't any money reward described in chapter 2, but players will do a LOT of quests, for a lot of people (mine even did some side work in exchange for discounts in the manor repairs).

If the players indeed focus on fixing the manor from the start of chapter 2, they will have it easy. If they divide the money and try to buy equipment before fixing the manor, they will have or an angry specter being an pain in their arses, or they will have a big dept that they will never be able to pay (unless of course, they find the gold in the end of the adventure)
