Give way for the Saturday night thread.

My (major) weekend obligations are complete so I'm free tomorrow. I should make a start on an assignment and do my tax return, but I'm not going to trap myself inside on a lovely day if I don't have to. There's a particular little shrub that I've never seen before that's in flower right now so I might go hunting for it tomorrow.

Topic: Following some very serious mismanagement on the part of a colleague, a big contract he was overseeing was handed to me. He had majorly screwed things up and severely compromised our ability to deliver on KPIs. The client was immediately hostile towards me and was making unreasonable demands. When I expressed concerns about my ability to recover the project in the absence of a productive client/contractor relationship, my bosses were sympathetic but ultimately unsupportive. Well, through some absolutely mammoth effort I've just about got there. I think that I've become pretty good at getting lots of good work out of staff without making them hate their job.

Alt: I haven't been achieving the grades I should be. It's mostly by choice - that is I choose to juggle a busy life and fit uni in around the edges, but even so I could be doing better if I were more disciplined.
