I think part of it is quarantine working, herd immunity take 50-70% infection and I would bet nyc at most has 1 million infect give or take. That still leave another 4 million ish needed for herd immunity. Now if 5x the current number got sick, nyc would just be a cesspool of bodies because we would legit have no room for any of them. I think because other places have way less people, the spread is slower and started later which gave them more time to react, but they have way lower thresholds to capably handle infections through ppe, ventilators and medicine/personnel.

On top of that, from a bearish standpoint longer term, I cant imagine going to a concert or out to eat. I just see some Orwellian dystopia for the short term minimally similar to farenheit 451 where people hang out in virtual and watch tv or concerts and events together.
