Yeah, I think there's more than a financial downside to a true ponzi scheme, though. You have to factor in the social harm because people pull in their friends and colleagues and golfing buddies on false pretexts and they go off investing their life savings. I think the difference between those and GME/AMC (if that's what you're alluding to) is that people are sold on ponzi schemes based on fabricated information suggesting that it's a sound investment whereas everyone getting into GME/AMC knows (or should at this point) that there's a real chance that it crashes down and they could be burned, but there remains conviction that it will do the opposite based off of information that, while it may or may not be accurate or reflect the reality of what goes on behind closed doors, isn't fabricated or being sold as a 'sure thing'. At least not by those who think the Earth is round.
