Weekend Wrapup

Story time! Thought I'd share [https://www.washingtonpost.com/history/2020/03/29/toilet-paper-shortage-hawaii/](this story) since I'm always hearing the "why toilet paper?" question.

this may not apply to the continental 49, but the toilet paper shortage actually happened in 1971 in hawaii for several months due to a dock strike, and to this day anyone in hawaii old enough to have lived through it always take the threat of running out seriously.

this is a tale of high-class restaurants having poop managers, radio stations giving away TP as a prize, and rich people engaging in shady midnight black market toilet paper deals.

my poor mom was 21 and at the University of Hawaii at the time. she said their was poopy buttholes EVERYWHERE, and in the rural parts of the state where she lived people pretty much triaged all their old clothes and were down to filthy poop rags.
