The Weekly Advice Post! October 31, 2016

I'm going to see my one year old godson later, haven't seen him since his christening in the summer as I've moved out of our hometown. I miss him and I feel like a shitty aunty, but their home is very in-your-face, his older brother has no behaviour and it's very difficult to have a conversation with my friend or chill with godson properly without some kind of madness popping off. The older kid is not being raised to respect other people's right to have a conversation and my friend is extremely soft on him. I haven't had to deal with a kid like him since I was a kid tbh; now I'm an adult and have to bite my tongue. And my friend's partner is a bantersaurus-rex know-all (for non-Brits, this provides an idea of this guy's sense of humour). It's hard man. I'm not going to bail on them but I need a way of entering a zen, unbothered mode before I go there.

Also, we're going to a friend's party out of town on Saturday (so out of London where they live, but also on the other side of Essex so still far away from me as well even though that's where I live now) and I'm certain they'll expect a lift there and back. There are a lot of people that think Essex=everything is nearby, but it's the largest county in England (I think) and if you know West London and East London are far away from each other, why wouldn't you be able to figure out that different ends of Essex are also miles away? Like no, my name is not Uber, being car-less shouldn't render you helpless or incapable of planning a journey, sort your own transport out for once (or you know, cough up petrol money).
