Weekly Complaint Thread - 25 May 2017

Yeah, no, it's such a heavy-handed story - the author is very obviously getting on a massive soap box. The thing is it's just hard to tell what his soap box is for or against.

The weird thing is the author's purposeful inclusion of one, single Japanese character in the story - because now it's not just a story about people from a fantasy world dying - it's "watch as the Japanese person survives and everyone else dies." (I picked up my nephew's copy of Terraformars, and it did the exact same thing in its first issue - "watch as all the non-Japanese characters die brutal deaths!") Go ahead and accuse me of going "full Debito," but really - it makes you wonder why there are two popular comic series for children centered on watching non-Japanese people die...

Anyway, my friend was just saying some cryptic stuff on Facebook referring to a "recent revelation" in the story, as if something had happened to indicate that the author had revealed some insane racist theory that he had based his story on. Like I said, it wouldn't surprise me at all, but I really don't know.
