Weekly 'Entering & Transitioning' Thread. Questions about getting started and/or progressing towards becoming a Data Scientist go here.

I’m transferring to a school next year that offers data science as an undergrad major. I know there was a post about this, but this is kind of a follow up. The previous post saw the curriculum receiving criticism as the cs classes seemed to be “watered down” and you only need four math classes to obtain the degree.

The school also offers mathematics and statistics as well as mathematical and statistical computing (curriculum for this one hasn’t been released yet). I guess I’m wondering if it makes more sense to choose one of the math majors to give myself a better foundation for grad school, or if it won’t really matter because the data science major with less math will be sufficient (I could always fill out my free electives with math courses).

Thanks!
