Weekly ERAS/Match Thread

  1. I received an email from one of the programs I interviewed at inviting me (and <25 other candidates) back for a "2nd Look Weekend" a couple weeks before rank lists are due. Is this a good sign? I accepted, and am going to go, just wondering if this might be directed toward people they're on the fence about, or the "top 25" they want to rank?

  2. I received an email from one of my top programs saying that at their rank meeting they decided that they would love to have me train with them, and that they hope that I will rank them high, and offering me contact info of residents in case I want any more information. I have heard horror stories about these kinds of communications in the past (empty promises and things that didn't work out). How common are these kinds of emails, and how seriously should I take this is as "we're definitely going to rank you high" statement?
