My spouse and I are fully vaccinated since April/May. Our kid goes to daycare and brings every illness home, and we're always catching whatever she has. Last week I completely lost my sense of taste and smell but attributed it to cold I was currently fighting that I could tell was triggering a secondary sinus infection. Spread to my ear so I went to an ENT to get tested because I lost my hearing and my ear was in so much pain that I was crying and vomiting. My spouse has no symptoms except yesterday we realized he lost his sense of taste and smell, too. Test results should be here in 1-2 more days but I'm terrified that it's Covid because our kid (1 year old) is not vaccinated and she's been quite sick for awhile.

Anyone ever have loss of taste/smell without any other symptoms and it NOT be from covid? I've never heard of this symptom before outside of sinus infections and covid.
