Weekly /r/bangtan Room (방탄방) - October 15, 2016

I understand where you're coming from. HYYH (especially pt. 2) has some of Bangtan's most passionate and beautiful songs in their entire discography, but Wings... is the boys' most modern and personal album to date. It lacks a lot of the hard-hitting/gritty edge that their previous albums have had, but I see it as Bangtan evolving. I personally associate that characteristic aggression as something very "youthful"-sounding? It's like Big Hit is allowing the group's image to slowly reflect that of adulthood. As a result, Wings is much more restrained, yet personal, and I'm okay with that. It also kinda makes me think about how things seem less of a big deal to you as you grow older, and these solos are each member's own thoughts regarding their personal journey so far (with the exception of Jimin's and maybe V's).

And because of how relatively muted Wings is, I actually find it easier to listen to repeatedly. I can much more easily incorporate Stigma into an everyday playlist instead of Autumn Leaves, and I LOVE Autumn Leaves. This album is very well-balanced, and while I'm not necessarily as emotionally compromised as I was with pt. 2, I appreciate that I'm listening to songs that I can enjoy on day-to-day occasions.
