Weekly /r/Games Discussion - What have you been playing, and what do you think of it?

Dragon Age II: I've completed Act 2 and started getting into Act 3. I have to say that, if a bit more closure had been given with some of the threads that were left open, I would have been more than happy with the game ending after Act 2. I'm glad that in Act 3 I'm getting to bash some templar heads for free, anyway.
I want to defend the choice of making the game revolve around only Kirkwall instead of the whole Free Marches, or Ferelden. I'm loving feeling like I actually belong to the city. I can get involved directly with the people and experience continuity as the game progresses, as opposed to what happened in Dragon Age: Origins: in that game I explored Lothering then later it got destroyed, and what did I care? The political troubles in Orzammar? Eh, they didn't really matter to me. And so on. In this game, instead, I'm quite interested in what goes on. I was absolutely pissed when the Qunari decided to wage war. I cared about the viscount. All this without even starting to mention the family matters and the companion sidequests.
I've also played the two “premium” sidequests I have. The first was Legacy which was kind of fun. It had some fun fights, nice looking areas and a good boss, albeit with one phase too many for my liking. The second is Mark of the Assassin and I'm still playing it. The first part with the hunting was pretty good, but after that there was an annoying stealth section that barely worked. Spoiler

Bioshock: I had played this game about four and a half years ago and never finished it. I remember that I was finding the gameplay rather dull.
Now I've restarted it from the beginning and my feelings are pretty much the same. It's just very dull gunplay, the damage feedback is terrible and the thing that should've saved it, the Plasmids, are rarely useful.
I'm also not a fan at all about the way storytelling is delivered through audio logs. There are two major problems with that: one is that whenever I find a log I have to stop and listen to it, because if for any reason I get into a fight I can't keep following what is being said. It's extremely annoying. The second problem is that with so many characters introduced it's hard to remember who is who. The most prominent ones, like Ryan, Tenenbaum and Atlas, are obviously easy to tell apart from the others, but when it gets to those who don't appear as often I can't connect names to events. For example, I remember there was a policeman who tortured someone in an area: I have no idea what his name was, and if I found or will find other logs from him I have no way to be aware that they're from the same person.
The art style and overall level design are great, but they're really not enough to salvage the less than mediocre gameplay. I still think I will finish the game this time, regardless.
