Weekly /r/Games Discussion - What have you been playing, and what do you think of it?

Dragon Ball Xenoverse

The Good

The story , the time travel story makes for a unique twist on the Dragon Ball lore it helps keeps things fresh while focusing on the stuff we all love.

The graphics for this game are incredible they look like they have jumped right out of the show especially during the cut scenes. I haven't drooped below 60FPS once during game play on ultra but I am using a Nvida 980 so your performance may vary.

The customization for this game gives me a true sense of ownership of my character everything from armour to move sets and stats can all be changed my only gripe with this system is you have to be back at base to do it.

The Bad

I find the fighting system rather clunky and boring. I have settled into a pattern of bashing on the AI till I have enough for my finisher and then just spamming that. The actual story missions them selfs are rather boring as a result which is a drag.

What is up with the random difficulty spikes? When you get up to boss like Frizea or Cell etc the difficulty sky rockets the only way I have found to get past it is to grind some levels and get some higher stats.

The Ugly

The AI for your allies has to be the worst I have seen in a long time they will just stand there some times during missions while you or them get wailed on by the enemy. Play with friends if the servers are up.

I have yet to be able to play with my friends as the servers have been broken for me since launch please let me switch to off line rather than try for five minutes then go into of line mode.

*Over all

Despite all my gripes I am really enjoying my time with the game not quite as focused as say Budokai 3 but still a good game. It feels like a swan song to the fans of Dragon Ball Z who have grown up with it over the years. My advice pick it up on sale if your a fan other wise skip it.
