I have a iPad Mini 4. After updating to iPadOS 14 it was getting very warm while charging and would not charge beyond 60%. This started immediately after updating and it always worked fine with lots of battery capacity before the update. I was poking around in the Battery section of Settings and noticed that Maps was running in the background. I thought this was strange as I've never used Maps on that device and I don't even remember ever installing it. I couldn't find a way to stop the background process so I entered the Maps app and then closed it. Still hot and won't charge. Finally I deleted the Maps app and now the iPad works perfectly as it did before the update.

My guess is that the Maps app was trying to track my precise location in the background and since my iPad doesn't have a GPS, it had to use WIFI location tracking and was boosting power to the WIFI in order to track as many access points as it could. Perhaps this has something to do with the new Widgets feature and Maps has some kind of Widget that tracks locations? But yeah, all a guess on my part.

I'm curious if others have noticed any similar behavior.
