WEEKLY RECRUITING THREAD - Ask here about the recruiting process, trade availability, requirements to join, and other common questions about the Canadian Armed Forces.

I sometimes hear people say that Canadians are the highest paid but in the US their taxes are much lower(some states don't even have income tax such as Nevada), they also get health care and from what I understand housing and food are fully covered by the military on-base.

Now compared to Canada, the dollar is much weaker, our taxes are much much higher, we have to pay for housing and food..... just a quick browse at the numbers it seems you guys are SEVERELY underpaid from my perspective..

I read that if you guys were unionize you would undoubtedly win using the same case as RCMP when they unionized and took it to the supreme court. Canada pays around 1.3% GDP currently and promised to up that number to 2%.. if their was a time to ask for a raise it would be now.. in fact it would help Canada reach for 2% GDP that Trump is advocating NATO members to reach.. I havent enlisted yet but im looking forward to it and hope you guys can see that this rumor that Canadians military member are the highest paid isnt as true as some may think... the government wont just give you a raise you guys need to go out and take it..
