I am 43. Of course I was taught the urim and thummin. I have been a member all my life. Seminary graduate. BYU graduate. Relief Society President. Gospel Doctrine teacher. YW President. Never once was I taught or did I teach anything about Joseph Smith putting the urim and thummin in a hat… then text magically appearing on it without any need for the golden plates. I have read hundreds of Friend magazines, New Era magazines, Ensign magazines, Liahona magazines, and all of the church media videos… not once was there ever a depiction of Joseph Smith putting his face in a hat like President Nelson did. That clip of his demonstration is so disturbing to me. I felt completely lied to.
