Weekly Threads, Questions, and Recommendations Megathread - Need some help? - Jan 31

Looking for recs: VNs that don’t have an anime art style at all (I can’t handle it, bad life experiences, nothing against it tho). NSFW to any extent is fine, as is blood/gore.

I really enjoyed the first chapter of Scarlet Hallow, and I’ve played and liked games like Max Gentlemen (though that art style pushed it and it wasn’t really a VN), Along the Edge, and What Remains of Edith Finch (kind of a VN? Not really but close enough to give an idea of a narrative style I enjoyed)... I guess that’s it. I tried the arcana but so much story is paywall blocked and the rest of it wasn’t enough to get me to shell out irl $ for it. I only did one route and it was fine.

I’m new to VNs and not sure what to risk trying, but if you have recs, lmk!! Thank you so much~
