Weekly "What Have You Been Reading?" Thread 1-28-17

Superior Foes of Spider-man A fantastic reread. Always hilarious, and a beautiful haven of all the c through z list spider-man villains.

Dragon Ball chapters 1-54 I feel like the first time I really got into comics was through Shonen Jump subscriptions. Haven't really read manga in awhile, but I missed it, and I was browsing through the comixology sales and want ham on those Dragonball deals yo. My only really knowledge of the series is all through the Cell Saga era (and tons of playing through Dragon Ball Z Legacy of Goku II on the GBA years and years ago, but that's basically also just the Cell Saga). It's cool to revisit the early days of this weird world, to see what Dragon Ball was before it was all Aliens and 80 Chapter fights. Reading Dragon Ball before Z really shows how evident the genre shift was. There's a lot similar, but Dragon Ball's a goofy, silly cartoon based in a fairy tale world (thus far, at least) compared to the grittier (but still goofy) scifi opera of Z. I'm really enjoying this and intend to keep reading until I get bored. Also, I always forget how weird these comics are with women and sex.........

Catwoman vol 1 (Brubaker/Cooke) WHY HADN'T ANYONE MENTIONED THIS SERIES!?! Jesus christ, you got Darwyn Cooke, you got Ed Brubaker, you got fun heists, you got beautiful artwork (....I already said Darwyn Cooke, I know, but even his successors do a great job), you got heartwarming character moments, you got Slam Bradley (who I've only just heard of). This is a different Gotham, it's fun to see this side of it, and Catwoman is just great guys. It's a great book.
