“Welcome to Home Depot. I’ll help you find what you’re looking for because I’m a very good boy.”

That's because you're a decent/good/responsible human being. Unfortunately you're really rare.

I've been working with dogs for many years, mostly daycare/grooming/some training, and you would not believe how oblivious people are about their pets.

Ex: I'm checking in a dog (water dog) for their grooming appointment, mom isn't paying any type of attention to her dog. Another dog (dane) comes in but they stay far away. Mom glances at them and then encouraged her water dog to "go say hi!"

Dane's mom immediately has her dog heel and says "um could you keep your dog closer to you please?"

Water dog mom:"Oh don't worry! He's very friendly! It'll be fine!"

The Dane's mom literally picks the front half of her dog up and the water dog lady is not understanding that just because her dog is nice doesn't mean every fucking dog is nice. Turns out dane is super dog aggressive and water dog almost got a bunch of new holes punched in him.

Most people just have zero awareness and it sucks. I'd love to have dogs in the store if every owner was like you are

Sorry for the novel it's way past my bedtime lol
