Went to Best Buy at 12:30pm for the Logan steelbook

I pre-ordered mine when the movie came out, and even with the cover, I still kept the order knowingly it was going to sell (Doctor Strange almost got the best of me), so I pre-order every time. I can always return it to the store if I have to. I personally wanted it because I loved Logan, and the steelbook was unique, despite, because it was drawn by the original Old Man Logan artist, which is cool regardless. I also love steelbooks.

As far as stock, this one brought a lot of sour grapes to people. On one hand, the cover art wasn't critically acclaimed (despite being the same original artist as Old Man Logan), and yet, it was widely popular and sold out of initial pre-orders, and by reading, all other orders. This steelbook sold, whether it was collectors, consumers, or ebay scalpers, it sold. That's all BB cares about. Fox, on the other hand, could make more and re-relase them (like Deadpool). I read online that one guy took a copy out of another person's cart, because he was fat and knew he could beat him the register. Another, I read, that there was a line forming outside ~9:30am, and when they entered, the BB employee had to pick it up and give it to the first entering customer and everyone started raging and screaming and gave death threats to those who pre-ordered/held instore pick up. I've read that BB over ordered (which isn't unusual), and so on and so on. this steelbook release has been the worst, probably. Everyone has been wanting this, yet refused to pre-order in advance.

mind you, I know many on here have tried and BB blocked them from doing so (due to selling out of pre-orders). Also, there are many that can't afford to pre-order (since BB puts a hold on your card) or can't do so until the release day. It just sucks, and I've been in one's shoes where I didn't pre-order and had to run to the store or money issues. I didn't get Doctor Strange 3D steelbook, but after 4 weeks, I was able to find a 2D steelbook at a BB in great condition. It was meant to be, but there have been times that it hasn't, and I've learned to chalk it up and not become desperate as steelbooks have apparently become (not from this sub - you guys are cool). Steelbooks are changing, studios know it, they take advantage of that opportunity and exploit it. At the same time, they also don't want a million copies left over (TFA steelbook for example).

To sum it up, it's a bit of everything. Studios are limiting their stock, BB only has a handful to hold in pre-orders, scalpers go into stores to buy all the inventory, consumers rush like black friday to pick it up and, some, take no mercy in doing so. Supply, demand, desperation, etc. Whether it's on purpose by the studio to create demand. It's just funny to me reading some posts where someone hates the steelbook, but picked it up anyway just because it was popular. It's their money, but that's my point, it creates that profit. In the end, it's just the movie. I have no regrets over the steelbook, but the Target one, in my opinion, is the best.

Sorry for the rant, and not entirely sure I answered your question, but even owning the steelbook since Friday, it's frustrating to read other's experience, who genuinely want to collect it for their own pleasure, be ruined by desperation, which themselves can be desperate in the moment.
