Went to the emergency room

Okay detox nurse here (fucking ironic, I know but most nurses there like helping patients detox because they are ex-alkies or druggies so they get the struggle) and I just want to say they usually have to get the alcohol out of you before you can get detox benzos because they hit the same receptors and end up being blocked since your gaba receptors are already still holding onto the booze.

Don't worry what the ER thinks of you especially if you have a history of seizures and DT's, they get these patients every night, most of them multiple times a night. There will always be the nurses who despise drunks just like anyone in the real world. A good nurse is empathetic and just wants to help you. I love my job because I understand how alcoholics and drug addicts suffer. I don't take it personally when they are sick and being assholes, they feel like they are dying. Once you get them under control because you treated them with respect, they become your best patients because you took the time to give a damn.

Some nurses bad, some good.
