Were you allowed to choose your own haircut as a child/young teen? How did this impact your relationship with self-expression later in life?

Nope. I went to a Catholic high school. We weren't allowed to cut or style hair. We had uniforms and we were allowed to braid hair only in certain ways. If it's too small (bob cut or smaller), we're allowed to let it be with hairpins. Bangs were not allowed. They said that if you're trying to look pretty, you're trying to attract boys and it's a nasty thing to do.

I got bangs recently for the first time at 28, tbh primarily to cover my forehead because I was seeing wrinkles. I wanted them when I was in school but forgot/got busy with life later. I'm not really sure if I even know how to self-express. I see people with bold hair styles and colors and I think that's cool, but indifferent about getting something for myself.
