Why were the Cavs so bad In lebrons first stay

Boston had a great team with a lot of veterans that were still in somewhat their prime in his last few years before he went to Miami but I think going to Miami and learning how to win and take over was huge for him mentally. He played the same as he did now the first go around (ball dominant point forward) but he just learned to influence the game better. Also, he has way better supporting cast and more youth/athleticism now. My last memory of their lineup the year before he left was mo Williams, delonte West, lebron, Antoine Jamison, and Anderson verajo/shaq. I never remember him having a k love or Irving talent... or even korver/jr smith level talent around him.
