We're giving students too much work

I've cut mine in half, trying to keep it an hour or less per day (usually it's ~an hour of class + up to an hour of homework, as I teach pretty much all AP and IB) but it's hard to go any lower frankly or there's no time to include daily reading AND any work or practice.

My kids all have their final sets of books for the rest of the year though so it's not all computer facing time. A lot is reading. Even with supplements, 90%+ of my kids (all but 3) have home printers and they'll print things out to read. Journal writing is still done by hand. They can scan to me if they want me to read but it's somewhat honor system.

Honestly though, many of my kids are bored. A few have video games they are into enough or will read on their own (many of my kids like to read but they don't like to read things that don't "count"). But they had a few days without work while we transitioned and I got 30+ individual messages asking what to work on, and even more about new AP tests.
