We're still all so disconnected

I think that's very specific - the person half way across the world on discord is a person who has chosen to be on discord and it is likely that they will not give a rounded view of the consensus that surrounds them, but one that fits neatly with all the preconceived notions you're bringing.

We have been taught to prejudge based on the truth from text books and through school, media, culture and watching others communicate but the bias ensures that we do not have any indication of what is really happening anywhere unless we go and experience it for ourselves. We're still biased but at least rhe data is first hand.

A kind of clear and obvious example is what you think a terrorist is. Does it fire you up and make you think about oppression and violence, and a certain religion? How much of that is because of something like the Libyan Terrorists in Back to the Future?
