So, we're supposed to allow ourselves to be disrespected and exploited? How about, NO?

Generation Jones here (1955-1965). I've had several careers, and probably over 100 jobs in my lifetime. All because I could see the writing on the wall when Reagan was elected president. You youngsters probably don't know about PATCO. It was the air traffic controller union, which of course wanted a raise and better working conditions. Reagan fired the ~12K air traffic controllers, and banned them from having federal jobs FOR LIFE!

I was still in college, but I knew that day that as employees, we are all just cogs in a wheel; serfs for the wealthy. I've had jobs where I was sexually harassed daily, generally underpaid, wages and benefits stolen, etc. I have quit more jobs than I can remember.

At every job that started fucking me over, I would quit on the spot, loudly, in front of as many people as possible, describing how the company was fucking ALL of us over. There were a few that were doing illegal activities (one in aerospace of all places!). I've worked for myself for about 20 years after all that bullshit, and although I really am broke AF, and social security ain't gonna look so good, I have kept my dignity and self-esteem, while helping other employees realize that work doesn't have to be this way.

And oh yeah, that aerospace job I spoke about? I quit the job, gathering all of the copies of my evidence beforehand, and literally drove straight to the FBI offices in L.A. The company I worked for, and several other local L.A. aerospace companies were shut down and the owners indicted in a large sting circa 1992-1993 for selling surplus parts they bought from the government, certifying the parts as new manufacture, and then selling them back to the government.

I quit another job as a waitress, as I was continually harassed and treated poorly. I asked them to mail my final check. Boss wrote back he wouldn't until I dropped my harassment suit with the EEOC. So I went to the labor board in California for the $200 check. The labor investigator ended up getting me 2 years of back pay for no lunch breaks, and 2 years of overtime I was never paid...with interest. So the $200 check the dude didn't want to pay ended up being nearly $8K in wages, interest and penalties to him. Six months later he settled in the EEOC case. After the lawyer's cut, I walked away with nearly $100K to start my own Apple IT business.

I closed that business in 2020, and now I just play music, grow weed and bake sourdough bread. I'm quite happy.
