Werewolf The Apocalypse

Well WtA is my favourite oWoD system and, like all in WW/OPP games, you need to know a little bit of the setting to be able to create a character that you will enjoy to play. If this is the first time you will play the game I strongly suggest to have a long talk with your storyteller and fellow players about the world and their characters because you will play a pack, a single unit and while there can be personal differences inside the pack, all of you have to act in unison against the many dangers you'll face. So basicly you not only create your character but you create a character inside a wolfpack. And you can only do that with the help of the guys you play with.

That said I try to summarize the character creation process and simplify some aspects. 1. Concept: who are you? A raging wolf avenging nature? A human who seeks to help others? 2. Breed: think of it as your race. Lupus -> you were born as a wolf. Homid -> you were born as a human. Metis -> you were born as the result of a forbidden union, you're usually hated and always disfigured. 3. Auspice: think of it as your class. Ragabash -> thief, sneaky type. Theurge -> shaman, mage, seer, wizard type. Philodox -> judge, mediator, paladin type. Galliard -> bard, storyteller type. Ahroun -> fighter, warrior type. 4. Tribe: your cultural background. * Black Furies: amazons, female only * Bone Gnawers: underdogs who live in poverty * Children of Gaia: peacekeepers, flower power * Fianna: Irish party wolves with an attitude * Get of Fenris: Norse warriors who like conflicts in all its forms * Glass Walkers: high tech werewolves * Red Talons: primal wolves, lupus only * Shadow Lords: manipulators with a great deal of ambition * Silent Strides: lone wolves always on the run * Silver Fangs: nobles and leaders * Stargazers: kung fu wolves * Uktena: Native American shamans * Wendigo: Native American warriors

After this all you have to do is to distribute your points, which is fairly straightforward. Your previous choices may limit you in this part (lupus born garou not likely have Technology or Firearms for example). Your breed, auspice and tribe also give you your starting gifts (like spells/supernatural skills). Only the backgrounds can be intimidating a little but if you keep your character's concept in mind you can choose the ones really applicable to your needs.

And that's it basicly.
