Western philosophy & Buddhism

There was interaction between “Western” philosophers and Buddhist ones even in the early days. Alexander the Great paved the way for this. The Graeco-Buddhism Wikipedia page is a good read. Also the one about Pyrrho, though none of his original writings survive intact, much of his quoted work (who knows what the full context may have been) displays striking similarities to Buddhist thought. Schopenhauer comes to mind as someone who could reasonably be labeled crypto-Buddhist. I’m not that well versed in traditional Western philosophy as I’d like to be, but yeah it’s a fascinating subject, the parallels and syncretisms that exist between the two.
