What I know about AKs and AR-15s?

It's a double edged sword. the more power weapons you have, the more you can destroy. I don't know why you think guns can only be used for good. If that was the case, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

So you think people don't have a right to defend themselves, it's the governments job to ensure everyone is safe?

As opposed to mass shootings.

You're acting like mass shootings (in schools) are this huge problem only correctable with gun control.

I'm all for inspections of guns. Even automobile ownership is stricter than gun ownership.

You have no value on privacy either then? Do you understand what makes a country a country? It's ideas and values. Cars are not at all the same as guns and quite frankly the way we handle cars is killing many more people than guns. We have autonomous cars that would result in about 30,000 lives being saved every year and save billions in other costs.

Cops asks for your documentation proving your license to drive, ownership of the car via registration, and in NJ that you have the proper insurance to drive the said registered vehicle. I'd love to see that for guns.

Driving isn't a right. Defending yourself is a right. Rights are not given by the government, they are protected by the government. You have entirely too much trust and faith in the government.

These are called Red Flag Laws. Only 5 states have them. People are pushing for them in their own states, but it isn't effective across state lines. So maybe it's time for a federal ruling.

We already have several federal laws on weapons. No one in any state thinks crazy people should own guns. I don't believe you when you say it's illegal in only 5 states. I think there is a failure in continuity between federal, state, and local law enforcement. All of the states, local PDs, and mental healthcare pros should report things that disqualify people from owning a weapon to the same database.
