What do you think about a lab-oriented midlevel provider?

Our pathologist doesn’t come in to look at slides on off hours so we don’t even bother calling him. I told the ER doctor he can call the operator and ask for the on call path if he needs to otherwise it would wait until Monday.

We also had a new acute leukemia a few months ago and a heme/onc doctor had to come look at the slide himself because there was no pathologist available.

I guess this isn’t a problem in places where pathologists actually do their job.

I also wish in general we had some kind of career advancement ladder in the lab, and I felt like this might make the most sense? I don’t know what else an “advanced MLS” so to speak would actually do.

All in all I guess it is a dumb idea. I’m just having a slow day at work and bored.
