Yes, someone does have to pay for it. The big corporations would and SHOULD pay for the majority of it. Billionaire dollar corporations who get tax breaks and screw people everyday should have to CONTRIBUTE to society.
And it should be ILLEGAL to fire someone without giving an ACTUAL REASON. Even if it’s discriminatory they can simply use some bs excuse for firing you (or LETTING YOU GO) so they can’t get sued.
This entire society is broken. The education system teaches no life skills to prepare you for the real world, and parents can’t be expected to teach their own kids this, that’s the WHOLE POINT of legally required school.
And then you have corporate bastards intentionally screwing people over, and being REWARDED for it.
There are homeless people sleeping on the side of the streets and under bridges, nobody does shit to even try to get them to gain a productive life. And before you try the argument “Everyone is responsible for their own life.” many people lack the mental capacity or were simply never taught what’s necessary to be capable of helping theirselves.
If you need a non-moral reason because you worship money and think capitalism is the Holy God, homeless people aren’t contributing to society, yet they’re living in the borders of the country that working people DO pay for.
There’s also 40-50 year old people who still live with their parents or others support them maybe when their parents die, and they’ve never even had a goddamn job in their entire life, but you think it’s ok for it to be allowed for them to waste their entire lives and no help be available to them, even forced help could save them. School is forced, it just doesn’t prepare you for the real world.
