OH MY GOD YES!!!! nothing gets me into more of a blinding rage. I work in DC and drive out down 9th street through the tunnel to 395 to get to right across the water to Alexandria. It is literally 7-8 miles from work to my house, but because of traffic in that tunnel (right lane only - the one that merges on the highway, the other two lanes are always wide open) is so bad it will take me 30 minutes just to get through the tunnel. SO MANY assholes drive down the left two lanes that are wide open and then try to cut over at the last minute. WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU THINKING? You know what lane you need to be in, and you can see that traffic is so bad that it is barely moving at all. The amount of arrogance and self importance to KNOW that people have been sitting in the exit lane for 30-40 minutes but think that you have a right to drive past them all and skip the line is staggering. I glue my car to the car in front of me and will NOT let ANYBODY in. Some assholes will sit next to you trying to make eye contact and guilt you into it....nope, fuck you motherfucker, not my problem if you can't get over. Of course some sucker always ends up letting them in. What really infuriates me is when the person in front of you lets somebody in. I'm sorry, maybe you don't want to get home but I do. The real worst is when somebody gets let in after skipping at least 20 minutes of waiting and then they let other assholes in......scumbags. Whenever somebody in front of me lets somebody in my arms start waving violently like "wtf is wrong with you?!". I don't care who you are, you aren't getting in front of me in this situation. I don't care if you have VA/DC/MD plates, are a taxi, are a cop (assuming they don't have lights on), or whatever.
Now, if traffic is open, sure let people in if they need to get over, but bumper-to-bumper exit ramps during rush hour is not one of those times. All those people KNOW what they are doing, they are commuters, they do it every single day. Fuck them. I like when they try to get in front of me and I won't let them so they keep sitting blocking the lane of traffic that is actually open that people are trying to use properly, so everybody starts honking at them for being assholes. Sad thing is they usually just pull up even closer to the exit and manage to cut in front of somebody. Some of them get quite aggressive and try to wedge their car in front of you even if there isn't space.....I still don't give in, what are you going to do? hit my car? sure, bring it on, I park on the street, my car is far from scratch and ding free, ill put my principle over the risk of another ding, the accident wouldn't be my fault anyways.
If anybody from DC is reading this and you try to cheat in the tunnel during peak rush hour, you are a piece of shit, get in line like the rest of us who aren't self-important jerks.
